Glamping appeared again on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces last week (next episode is this Thursday, C4 at 8pm) – this time it was in the form of a “tin tent” – an up-cycled shipping container!
This tin tent belongs to Jon & Sally and forms part of their glamping business in Cornwall, in the lovely Lizard Peninsula…they were really up against it, aiming to complete their project within just 8 weeks – and despite terrible weather, they managed it!
The shipping container housed the main living area; with lovely bunk beds one end, and a cosy seating area next to a woodburner at the other end. Attached to the shipping container was an additional “annexe” which contained a kitchen area and bathroom.
Double doors opened out onto decking for that important outdoor living area and finally the whole container was covered with a safari tent style roof, to give you that “tent” look!
Only going over budget by 10%, the whole build cost Jon & Sally just £22,000 and was ready in time for their first booking!
What was particularly nice about this glamping accommodation was that it really was like a tin tent – so you would feel it was much more like camping, but with a lot more luxuries – I guess that epitomises ‘Glamping’!
